Publication Ethics Statement

Overview

Jurnal Pengabdian dan Inovasi is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and scholarly integrity. Our publication ethics and malpractice statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the ethical principles outlined below.

A. Duties of Authors

1. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works and have not been published previously, nor are they under consideration for publication elsewhere. All sources used must be properly cited and acknowledged. Jurnal Pengabdian dan Inovasi strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and citation manipulation. Any detected plagiarism will result in rejection or retraction of the article.

2. Reporting Standards

Manuscripts based on community service activities must present accurate data derived from the implemented programs and be supported with sufficient detail and references to allow others to verify or cite the work. Authors should present their results honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

3. Authorship and Contributorship

All listed authors must have made meaningful contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported work. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission to the journal. Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria but contributed to the work should be acknowledged in the manuscript.

4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission

Authors should not submit the same manuscript, or manuscripts describing essentially the same community service activity or innovation, to more than one journal concurrently. This constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing their work. This includes funding sources, institutional affiliations, and any other competing interests. Authors should include a conflict of interest statement at the time of submission.

6. Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced their work. All sources of data, ideas, and text must be appropriately referenced.

7. Ethical Approval and Informed Consent

For research or community service activities involving human participants, authors must provide evidence of ethical approval from an appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee. Informed consent must have been obtained from all participants or community partners involved.

8. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obliged to promptly notify the journal editors and cooperate with the retraction or correction of the paper.

B. Duties of Editors

1. Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Decisions are based on the manuscript's importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.

2. Fair and Unbiased Decisions

Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit and intellectual content, without discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation of the authors.

3. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author's explicit written consent. Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, institutions, or topics.

5. Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations

Editors are expected to take responsive measures when ethical complaints are presented regarding a submitted or published manuscript. They should cooperate with institutions and other bodies in investigating and resolving alleged misconduct.

C. Duties of Reviewers

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

2. Promptness and Professionalism

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review the research reported or cannot provide a timely review should notify the editor and decline the invitation.

3. Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

4. Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They should also bring to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper.

6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and should decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

D. Duties of the Publisher

1. Ethical Standards

The publisher is committed to following best practices regarding ethical issues, misconduct, and retractions. The publisher provides support to the journal editors in handling ethical complaints and investigating misconduct.

2. Intellectual Property and Copyright

The publisher implements norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright. The publisher ensures that copyright and ownership of published content are clearly defined and respected.

3. Confidentiality

The publisher respects the confidentiality of all contributors, authors, editors, and reviewers.

4. Access and Archiving

The publisher ensures that the journal provides open access to its content and maintains proper digital archiving and preservation of published materials.

E. Handling of Misconduct

Jurnal Pengabdian dan Inovasi takes all allegations of ethical misconduct seriously. The journal follows COPE guidelines in addressing all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct.

Procedures include:

  • Investigation: Allegations will be investigated promptly and confidentially.

  • Due Process: Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to any allegations.

  • Corrective Actions: If misconduct is confirmed, the journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript, issue a retraction, or impose a ban on future submissions from the offending authors.

F. Compliance and Acknowledgment

All authors submitting to Jurnal Pengabdian dan Inovasi are required to sign a Publication Ethics Statement Form confirming that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these ethical guidelines. By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that their work adheres to the principles outlined in this statement.
